The Davi Vendy Multifunction Scale is a style with a classical design and stylised lines, which can be fully customised. It has the basic features of scales (height, Weight and calculated Body Mass Index) with the added feature of the measurement of the body fat index.

What is BMI?
The body mass index (BMI) is a statistical measurement which compares a person's weight and height. It is a useful tool to estimate a health body weight based on how tall a person is. Due to its ease of measurement and calculation, it is the most widely used diagnostic tool to identify obesity problems within a population.

Body mass index is defined as the individual's body weight divided by the square of his height. The formulas universally used in medicine produce a unit of measure of kg/m2.
What measurement techniques are used to calculate your Body Fat %?
Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) is a commonly used method for estimating body composition and Body Fat %
The general principle behind Bioelectrical impedance analysis BIA: two conductors are attached to a person's body (Muscular & Skeletal) and a small electrical current is sent through the body. The resistance between the conductors will provide a measure of body fat, since the resistance to electricity varies between muscular and skeletal tissue. Fat-free mass (muscles) is a good conductor as it contains a large amount of water and electrolytes, while fat is anhydrous and a poor conductor of electrical current.
Factors that can affect the accuracy and precision of this method include:
- Eating and drinking large amounts before measurement (can create an inaccurate measurement)
- Measurement after exercising must be controlled (hydration level is an important source of error in determining the flow of the electrical current to estimate body fat)
- Jewellery (rings, bracelets & watch)
It’s important that you consistently measure yourself in the right physical condition to avoid inaccurate readings. Consistency is the key
